Paris Nord – Myr Muratet

Première monographie de Myr Muratet, «Paris Nord» propose un regard sensible sur les formes fragiles, précaires et inventives développées par les populations qui vivent à la marge. À travers des images issues de séries majeures du photographe (Paris-Nord, Wasteland, CityWalk, La flore des friches) on découvre les interstices de la ville comme autant d’endroits où l’intime se glisse, où le sauvage et l’oublié cohabitent avec le domestique et le quotidien. À cette intimité s’opposent des formes massives et anonymes, qui viennent combler les failles pour en empêcher l’occupation, repoussant toujours plus loin les communautés qui en dépendent. Un texte de Manuel Joseph, édité sous la forme d’un cahier volant, s’insère dans le livre sans pour autant s’y attacher. Publié à l’occasion de l’exposition «Zone de confort» au Signe, Centre national du graphisme à Chaumont, avec le soutien du Signe et du Centre national des arts plastiques.

First monograph by Myr Muratet, “Paris Nord” offers a sensitive look at the fragile, precarious and inventive forms developed by populations living on the margins. Through images taken from the photographer’s major series (Paris-Nord, Wasteland, CityWalk, The flora of the wasteland), we discover the interstices of the city as so many places in which the personal and private are nestled, where the wild and the forgotten coexist with the domestic and the everyday. This intimacy is opposed by massive and anonymous forms, which fill in the loopholes to prevent occupation, pushing further the communities that depend on it. A text by Manuel Joseph in the form of a flying notebook fits into the book without being attached to it. Published on the occasion of the exhibition “Zone de confort” at Le Signe (National Center for Graphic Design) in Chaumont, with the support of Le Signe and the CNAP (National Center for Arts).
