This new collaboration with Farah Khelil was inspired by two texts written by her great uncle Bachir Majdoub and by her series of installation works titled Point d’étapes. As an art student in Tunis, she studied the history of (western) art only through reproductions. Today, she addresses this situation in her art, which deals with matter of mediation, representation and diagrammatic thinking as an experience of creation. To produce this edition, Farah and I created an Installation that was then printed life size and folded into a booklet. It contains both texts in Arabic and their translations in French.

Cette nouvelle collaboration avec Farah Khelil est inspirée par deux textes de son grand oncle Bachir Majdoub et par sa série d’installation Point d’étapes. Étudiante aux Beaux-Art de Tunis, Khelil n’avait accès à l’histoire de l’art (occidental) qu’à travers des reproductions. Aujourd’hui, une grande partie de son travail traite de représentation et de médiation des œuvres, utilisant la pensée diagrammatique comme une expérience de création. Pour réaliser cette édition, nous avons photographiée et imprimée à échelle réelle une installation créée pour l’occasion. Cette image est ensuite décomposé lorsqu’elle est pliée à la manière d’un cahier d’imprimerie. Les textes en arabe de Bachir Majdoub et leur traduction en français entrecoupent les dos bleus de l’image à la manière d’inserts.
