Slow Down Abstractions – Adrien Vescovi

Dans l’atelier marseillais d’Adrien Vescovi, on trouve des pigments, des lessiveuses, des bocaux de couleur où baignent des pans de textile, des barres d’acier rouillé, et des toiles suspendues, en attente d’être assemblées à d’autres, après découpe et couture. Pensées et composées comme des tableaux, parfois monumentaux, elles sont ensuite accrochées dans des espaces où elles agissent avec leur environnement. En pleine nature où elles s’imprègnent des éléments et des intempéries ; en intérieur où ces toiles et leur disposition répondent à l’architecture des lieux. Réalisée l’occasion de son exposition au Studio Fotokino en septembre 2020, Slow Down Abstractions reproduit, par fragments d’une part, et en totalité de l’autre, l’une des œuvres présentées : Land VIII (2019, coton, teinture minérale, 485 x 152 cm).

In Adrien Vescovi’s Marseilles studio, one can find pigments, washing machines, jars filled with colors where textile sections, rusty steel bars, and hanging canvases bathe, awaiting to be assembled with others, after being cut up and sewed. Conceived and composed like paintings, sometimes monumental, they are then hung in spaces where they interact with their environment. Outdoors, where they are impregnated by the elements and the weather; indoors, where these canvases and their arrangement respond to the architecture surrounding them. Realized on the occasion of his exhibition at Studio Fotokino in September 2020, Slow Down Abstractions reproduces, in fragments on one hand, and in totality on the other, one of the works presented in the show: Land VIII (2019, cotton, mineral dye, 485 x 152 cm).
