Self-Portrait as 47 Pickles – Erwin Wurm

Le cornichon est une figure récurrente dans l’oeuvre d’Erwin Wurm. En 2008, il réalise une installation intitulée Selbstporträt all Gurken (Autoportrait en cornichons), et dispose, chacun sur son piédestal tous les cornichons du contenu d’un bocal répliqués en résine peinte. Chaque condiment a ensuite été photographié avec le même protocole de prise de vue. Le livre d’artiste Self-Portrait as 47 Pickles réunit cette série.

The pickle is a recurring figure in Erwin Wurm’s work. In 2008, he created an installation titled Selbstporträt all Gurken (Self-portrait in pickles). To compose the piece, he emptied a jar of pickles, encapsulating each one within painted resin, and placing them on individual pedestals. Each condiment was then photographed following the same protocol. The artist’s book Self-portrait as 47 pickles presents this series of photographs.
